Cape Town

Brod and I arrived home from a 2 day business trip to Cape Town this morning...feels like a dream.  We had an awesome time - visited all our favourite spots, went for long walks along the promonade in Sea Point, had adventures on Clifton Beach, discovered more pathways amongst the beach bungalows there, watched the full moon rise from Signal Hill, ate St Elmo's pizza on Table mountain, and wandered on the V & A Waterfront.  I love Cape Town.

My 2nd favourite spot in SA: Clifton Beach - 1st is Assagay (my home)
Boulders, boulders everywhere - Brod's playground.

Woolworths V & A TapasBar - fantastic food!
This is the promonade below Sea Point...gorgeous spot to walk

Happy Birthday G.I Jo

Today, 4 years ago, I gave birth for the last time.  Little Jonah was born & our family was complete.

Birthdays are always such a great time to remember the past - especially the day it all began.  And 4 years on, Brod & I have experienced some firsts because of Jo.  It has been a whirlwind of an adventure - lots of laughter, screaming, crying...and I have lots of grey hairs to show for it.  Believe it or not.  All the kids were up at 5am(noah was up at 4am!) sitting on my bed opening Jo's presents - thrilled and delighted by his loot.  When they were done there - both boys ran off to Granny & Grandpa's house and banged on the door calling for more birthday presents.  It certainly is very convenient having them so close.

Family Photo's

As you can tell from the newly uploaded photo's on this blog - we have had our first family photos taken!  Tanya Olsen, one of the mom's from Beehive (the boys school) joined us on Umhloti Beach for a photo shoot on Saturday morning.  Lots of fun, and great to finally have current photo's of us on the wall - that are not taken with our Camera phone:)

Catch up from July

This is Liam Nell, my nephew.  He was chasing his Uncle Brod, and in an effort to get away...Uncle Brod climbed the Mulberry tree.  So did Liam.  Then Liam got stuck up that Mulberry Tree.  His concerned sister Michaela is sussing out the situation.  Love this picture.
Phoebe saved the day!  Her first microwave brownies made for pudding on a Fast weekend(with no help from mom).
Miss Phoebe
Sophie in her element
Jo on the beach moaning(crying and shouting) at me while the other kids had fun....

Snuggling in Phoebe's bed

Friday nights at 6pm = Star Wars Clone Wars on Cartoon Network...this is the boys highly anticipated weekly fix.  By 'boys' I mean Brod as well.  So cute.

To live a creative life...

we must lose our fear of being wrong.  And so, I do something creative everyday to get used to being wrong and making mistakes.  And it's turning out to be a great few weeks, evolving into months.  Life has become even more satisfying.  And I am even on the brink of getting my dishwasher.  HOORAY! No more breaking nails and dry hands...and hours of washing dishes.

There's a bat on my stoep

My cat & the bat.  Funky little noo-noo.  We had fun checking him out and then moved him to a safer spot in Max's house.  Max, our neighbour, collects cool animals(the kind I tend not to touch) - so he saved the day for us!

An update...this week we:

He went into shock when I told him what was happening the next day - inconcievable - shame
  • Sent 'Tom Ginger' in to be 'fixed'.  Ow.  He came home drunk on drugs & very sedate.  And has since recovered fantastically and is causing even more of a ruckus.  He runs around with his back arched, tail huge and fuzzy and attacks me constantly while I'm making the beds & doing the laundry. Sigh.
  • Went to the Doctor twice, for 2 different kiddies, and are waiting to see how long the other 2 will remain virus free.  We do have a long weekend to look forward to for maximum recovery.
  • Sophie has been our stalwart school goer.  The 3 other kids have been off school - Jonah has been bunking - and Sophie has been determined.  She has this cute little chin that sticks out when she is being stubborn or determined.  It has been sticking out all week.  She has gone to school today is her ciivies (plain clothes - no uniform) keen for the cake sale (Schhol fundraiser) and the opporunity to hang out with her friends.
  • Phoebe has been literally knocked out with the flu...and has been sleeping for the better part of the week.  Brod is pumping us all with Cal-c-vita, fruit juice and meds.
  • Brod & I have been very busy with work - and are enjoying it.  Just feeling the need for more fun, recreational time together - so are planning a short trip away..yay!
